Overview
Getting clients to connect their banking data is one of the most common challenges when onboarding to LedgerSync. LedgerSync provides multiple methods so you can choose the approach that works best for each client relationship.
Method 1 — LedgerSync App Messages (Email or Text)
The simplest method. LedgerSync sends an invitation from its system directly to the client via email or SMS.
- When adding a new client, enter their email address and/or mobile number
- Select Send Invitation Via SMS, Email, or both
- LedgerSync delivers a secure invitation link to the client
- The client taps the link and follows the prompts to connect their bank
Method 2 — Send Invitation via Your Own Email
For clients who only trust messages from your firm’s domain.
- When adding a client, click Copy Invitation Email
- LedgerSync copies the invitation text (including the secure bank connection link) to your clipboard
- Paste it into your firm’s email, customize the message, and send from your email address
The client receives the invitation from your firm’s email address — not from ledgersync.com — which significantly improves open and response rates for clients who don’t recognize the LedgerSync name.
Method 3 — Client Mobile App (Google Play & App Store)
LedgerSync has a client-facing mobile app that can be customized with your firm’s branding. Clients log in with their phone number and can add a new bank or fix a broken connection directly from the app.
- Add your firm’s logo, avatar or owner photo, and a customized welcome message
- Clients see two options: Add Bank or Fix Bank
- No browser required — the full connection flow runs natively in the app
Method 4 — Communication Center: Request a Specific Bank (Mastercard, MX, or Premium)
Use this for targeted requests — for example, when you want to ask specific clients to connect a new bank account or reconnect a broken one.
- Go to Client Actions > Communication Center
- Select Reconnect and Add New Banks
- Choose the clients you want to send to
- Select the bank you want them to connect or reconnect
- Select the connection type: Mastercard, MX, or LedgerSync Premium
- Choose a message template (or create a custom one) and send
LedgerSync Premium is now available as an explicit connection type option in the Communication Center, alongside Mastercard and MX. This is particularly useful for clients who need to connect a Capital One Premium connection or a bank that is only available via Premium.
Bonus — Generate a Bank Fix URL and Send from Your Email
For clients with a broken bank connection, you can generate a targeted reconnect link and send it directly from your email:
- Go to the client’s Bank Summary page
- Find the broken bank and click Generate Bank Fix URL
- Copy the link and paste it into an email from your own firm’s address
- The link takes the client directly to the correct bank reconnection page
- The link is valid for 6 days
FDE Bank Connections Are Now Included in the Communication Center
LedgerSync’s document-based statement extraction connections (FDE) are now fully visible in the Communication Center:
- FDE-connected bank accounts are counted in the broken connections report alongside Mastercard and MX connections
- You can send fix notifications to clients for broken FDE connections directly from the Communication Center, the same way you would for Mastercard or MX
