How to Choose Which Accounts to Refresh

How to Choose Which Accounts to Refresh

What happens the first time I refresh?

When you connect a bank or financial institution, it may contain multiple accounts — for example, a checking account, a savings account, or a credit card. This feature lets you control which of those accounts you want to see and refresh.

The very first time you refresh a connection, you will see two screens in sequence:

Screen 1 — "Which accounts do you want to see?"
This is where you set your long-term preferences. Think of it as a filter. If there are accounts you know you will never need (for example, a family member's personal account when you only care about business accounts), you can uncheck them here. Those accounts will be hidden from all future refreshes. You can change this later — see Editing Your Preferences below.

Screen 2 — "Which accounts do you want to refresh right now?"
After setting your preferences, you will see a second screen showing only the accounts you kept visible in Screen 1. Select which ones you want to refresh this time — you do not have to refresh all of them. Once you make your selection, the refresh begins.

What happens on every refresh after the first?

You will only see one screen — the "Which accounts do you want to refresh right now?" screen. Your previous selection will be pre-selected for convenience, but you can change it each time. The preferences screen is skipped because you already set it up.

How do I edit which accounts I see?

If you want to show or hide different accounts:

  1. Click Edit Credentials on your connection.
  2. Select Edit Sub-Accounts Selection from the dropdown.
  3. Check or uncheck accounts to update your preferences.
  4. Save your changes.

From the next refresh onward, your updated account list will be reflected.

Note: The "Edit Sub-Accounts Selection" option only appears after you have completed at least one full refresh. If you just added the connection and have not refreshed yet, you will only see the option to update credentials.

What if a new account appears at my bank?

If your bank adds a new account (for example, you open a new credit card), it will automatically appear the next time you refresh. Since you never hid it in your preferences, it will show up in your list of accounts to refresh.

What happens if I do not respond to the selection screen?

If no selection is made within 5 minutes, the system proceeds automatically:

  • Screen 1 (preferences): All accounts are kept visible — nothing gets hidden.
  • Screen 2 (current refresh): The accounts already selected will be refreshed.

If no action is taken for 30 minutes total, the refresh will time out and stop.
