How to use Ask AI, the support chat in LedgerSync

Ask AI is the AI support chat built into LedgerSync. Type a question and the assistant answers it. It can also take you to the right screen, check your bank connections, tell you whether a bank is supported, and pass your question to the LedgerSync support team when it cannot solve it.

Who can use it

Ask AI is available to the users of your firm. Your clients do not see it when they sign in to LedgerSync.

Open the chat

  1. Click the chat icon in the top bar. Its tooltip reads Ask AI.
  2. A panel titled Help Center opens, with an Ask question button and your Recent conversations.

If you have no conversations yet, the panel says: "Ask a new question by clicking the "Ask question" button."

Ask a question

  1. Click Ask question. The new conversation shows "How can we help? Type your question below."
  2. Type in the Type your question... box. Pressing Enter starts a new line.
  3. To send, press Ctrl + Enter (Cmd + Enter on a Mac) or click the send button.
  4. While the assistant works on its reply, you see Thinking....

The conversation is named after your first message. To go back to your list, click the back arrow at the top of the panel.

What the assistant takes into account

The assistant uses the client you have selected, the page you are on and LedgerSync's help articles. When an answer draws on help articles, they are listed under Sources.

What the assistant can do

  • Take you to a screen. Some answers include a button, for example to add a bank or open one of your connections. Clicking it takes you there and closes the chat.
  • Check your bank connections. Ask about a bank or a client, and the assistant can tell you whether a connection is working and, if not, why it needs attention.
  • Look up a bank. Ask whether a bank is supported and which way to connect it.
  • Explain a rule. If you have permission to manage global rules, the assistant can explain one of your firm's global categorization rules for QuickBooks or Manual. Zoho Books rules are not covered.
  • Pass your question to support. See the next section.

Getting help from the support team

There is no separate button for this. Ask the assistant in the chat to pass your question to support. The assistant can also do it on its own when it cannot solve the problem, for example when it needs a change to your account or a manual check by the team.

A support ticket is then opened in your name, and your conversation is shared with the team. The assistant replies: "I've opened a support ticket for this and shared our conversation with the team so they have the full context."

The conversation then shows an Escalated to support banner with the ticket number. In Recent conversations it shows Ticket and the number. You can keep writing in the same conversation.

Conversation status

Each conversation in Recent conversations shows a status badge and when it was last updated.

  • Open: a normal conversation.
  • Escalated: the conversation was passed to support and a ticket was opened.

Conversations stay in your list. There is no option to close or delete one.

Who can see your conversations

The firm owner and admin users see every conversation in the firm. Other team members see only the conversations they started. You can rate the answers in any conversation you can open.

Rate an answer

Under each answer, Did this help? has a thumbs up and a thumbs down. If you click thumbs down, a box asks "What was wrong with this answer? (optional)". Type up to 1000 characters and click Send, or click Cancel.

Limits

  • You can send up to 60 messages in one conversation in any 24 hours. After that, you see a message that the daily limit for the conversation has been reached.
  • A message longer than 4000 characters is cut to 4000 characters.

Messages you might see

  • "Sorry, I'm having trouble answering right now. Please try again in a moment." The assistant could not answer. Wait a moment and ask again.
  • "That answer got too long for me to finish. Could you ask me about one thing at a time?" Split your question into smaller ones.
