MX Statement Aggregation — Which Banks Support Statement Downloads via MX?

Notes
Overview
LedgerSync supports bank statement aggregation through two aggregators: Mastercard Open Finance and MX. Not every bank that supports transaction aggregation via MX also supports statement aggregation. This article explains how MX statement support works and how to verify whether your bank is supported for statement downloads through MX.

What Is MX Statement Aggregation?

MX statement aggregation means LedgerSync can automatically download monthly bank statement PDFs for the client’s connected account through the MX aggregator. This works similarly to Mastercard statement aggregation — once the bank is connected, new monthly statements pull in automatically via a daily scheduled refresh.

Does MX Support Bank Statements?

Yes — for supported institutions. MX supports both transaction aggregation and statement aggregation, but not every bank that MX connects to for transactions also provides statement PDF access. Bank-level support depends on what each institution’s API exposes to MX.

When LedgerSync connects a bank through MX, it checks what the bank’s API supports and requests statements automatically where available. If statements are not available for a specific bank through MX, transactions will still pull in if TA (transaction aggregation) is supported.

How to Check MX Statement Support for Your Bank

There are two ways to check:

Option 1 — In the LedgerSync app: Navigate to Add Bank Connection → MX Connection and search for your bank. If MX statement aggregation is available for that bank, the connection will pull statements automatically after connecting.

Option 2 — Contact Support: Email support@ledgersync.com and ask whether your specific bank is supported for MX statement aggregation. The support team can confirm coverage before you attempt a connection.

What Happens If MX Doesn’t Support Statements for My Bank?

If MX does not support statement aggregation for your bank, you have these options:
  • Check Mastercard coverage: Your bank may support statements through Mastercard Open Finance even if MX doesn’t. See: Mastercard Supported Institutions
  • Use Premium Bank Connections: Some banks support statement access through LedgerSync’s Premium Bank Connections even when aggregator APIs don’t expose statements
  • Upload PDF statements manually: Use LedgerSync’s PDF upload feature to bring in statements as a transaction source

MX Statement Refresh — How It Works

For banks where MX statement aggregation is supported:
  • LedgerSync runs a daily scheduled refresh to check for new statements
  • New monthly statements are pulled in automatically when available
  • If the bank requires MFA at refresh time, the MFA prompt appears in LedgerSync the same way it does for initial connection
  • The predicted next expected statement date badge displays for MX accounts where LedgerSync has enough statement history to make a reliable prediction
