Using the LedgerSync Assistant (Virtual Assistant) to Fix Bank Connection Issues

Using the LedgerSync Assistant (Virtual Assistant) to Fix Bank Connection Issues

Overview

The LedgerSync Assistant is a built-in virtual assistant that automatically scans all of your bank connections and alerts you to any issues that need attention. It surfaces broken connections, re-authorization requests, and other problems in one centralized panel — so you don't have to manually check each client one by one.

You can find the LedgerSync Assistant on your Dashboard page.

How to Access the LedgerSync Assistant

  1. Log in to your LedgerSync account.
  2. Click Dashboard in the top navigation bar.
  3. The Assistant panel will appear on the right side of the screen, listing all active issues across your bank connections.

Understanding the Issue Panel

The Assistant organizes issues by status. Use the tabs at the top of the panel to filter your view:

  • Open — Issues that are active and need your attention.
  • Dismissed — Issues you have manually dismissed.
  • Resolved — Issues that have been fixed.

You can also filter by issue type using the All issue types dropdown.

Common Issue Types

Re-authorization Needed

This issue appears when a bank requires you to re-authorize access to keep the connection active. This is a routine security requirement from the bank — not an error with LedgerSync.

How to fix it:

  1. Click the Fix [Bank Name] link on the right side of the issue card.
  2. LedgerSync will take you directly to the bank connection page.
  3. Follow the prompts to re-authenticate (typically takes about 30 seconds).

Broken Bank Connection

This issue appears when a bank connection has stopped working entirely and is no longer syncing data.

How to fix it:

  1. Click the Fix [Bank Name] link on the issue card.
  2. You will be taken directly to the affected connection.
  3. Delete the broken connection and reconnect the bank from scratch.

Note: Reconnecting restores data syncing. Previously fetched statements and transactions are not affected.

Fixing Issues Directly from the Assistant

Each issue card in the Assistant includes a direct action link on the right side (e.g., Fix First Republic Bank Business, Fix American Express). Clicking that link takes you straight to the page where you can resolve the issue — no manual navigation required.

The panel also shows:

  • The bank name and account name affected.
  • The connection type (e.g., MX, Mastercard).
  • The date and time the issue was detected.

Tips

  • Check the Assistant regularly — issues are timestamped so you can see how long they've been open.
  • If multiple clients share the same bank (e.g., American Express), you may see the same bank listed more than once — each entry corresponds to a different client account.
  • Re-authorization issues are normal and expected. Banks enforce periodic re-verification (typically every 6–12 months) as a security measure.
  • If clicking a fix link doesn't resolve the issue, contact LedgerSync support for assistance.
