What your clients see when they log in to LedgerSync

What your clients see when they log in to LedgerSync

The short answer

A client who logs in to LedgerSync sees a simpler version of the app. They land on their own profile page, which shows their bank connections on the left and the selected connection's details on the right. Clients only see their own account. They cannot switch to other clients, and some firm-only options are hidden from them.

How a client gets a login

Go to the Client List, click Invite on the client's row and choose By Email or By SMS. The client receives a message with a link. Opening the link signs them in to LedgerSync.

A text is only sent if the client has a phone number on file.

The client header

Clients do not get the sidebar or the guide tours. Instead they see a header with:

  • The logo, which takes them back to their profile page.
  • Task Center, which shows a dot when there are notifications in the Task Center notifications list. Clients get the Mine and Created by me views and Messages, but not All tasks.
  • A language switcher with English, French and Spanish.
  • Their name, which opens a menu with Change Password, Terms & Conditions, Contact us, Mastercard Supported Banks, Request New Bank and Logout. Contact us opens an email to LedgerSync support.

Clients cannot open the Transactions, Statements or Checks pages. If they try, LedgerSync takes them back to their profile page.

The bank connections list

The left panel shows Bank Connections, the client's own name under Selected Client: and the Add Bank Connection button, which clients can use to add their own banks.

For each connection, the list shows the connection name, the provider's logo and the latest transaction, statement and connection updates, with the date, time and any error message.

If the client has no connections yet, the page says "This client has no bank accounts yet". The invite links your team sees on that page are hidden from clients.

The connection details

For each account on a connection, the client sees Account Number, Balance, Type, Last Transaction Date, Last Statement Date and Created Date. A Total Balance: line is shown for each group of accounts.

Clients can use these options on their own connections:

  • Edit Connection Name (the pencil icon).
  • Connection Notes. Clients can open the notes on their own connections, so keep that in mind when you write a note there.
  • Update Balance, or Refresh data on Statements & Checks connections.
  • Fix Bank Connection. Statements & Checks connections also have update credentials.
  • Generate Bank Fix URL, which appears when the connection has an error.
  • Delete Bank Connection.

Connections made by uploading PDF statements work differently. They have Upload Another Statement and Delete Bank Connection, but no Update Balance, Fix Bank Connection or Generate Bank Fix URL.

What clients do not see

  • Update Transactions (Last 30 days and Older than 30 days).
  • Text Client To Fix, which only your team sees on a connection that has an error.
  • The Accountant View Only Login and Client (Account Owner) Login tick boxes, which your team uses to record whose bank login a connection uses.
  • The sidebar, the guide tours and the All tasks view in the Task Center.
