How to Invite Clients to Add or Reconnect a Bank (Communication Center)

Notes

Purpose: This guide explains how to invite a client, through the Communication Center, to securely connect or reconnect their own bank account in the LedgerSync application. Use this method when your firm does not have access to the client’s credentials or MFA token, or when the client prefers to add the bank connection themselves.

Follow the steps below:

  1. Log in to the LedgerSync application.
  2. Navigate to Client Actions → Communication Center → Reconnect and Add Banks.

  3. Search for and select the client you want to invite to add a bank connection.

  4. Click Next, or use the “Search Bank” box to find the bank you’d like to invite the client to connect. You can also filter by the type of data you need by clicking one — or a combination — of the Statements, Transactions, or Check Images buttons. For example, if you want statements and transactions for Chase, select both the Statements and Transactions buttons.

  5. The matching bank name will populate automatically. Click it — the green labels confirm what data that connection pulls in, so you can pick the correct bank connection. (In this example, we used Chase under the MX Connection.)

Note: We offer different types of bank connections. If you’re unsure which to use, please refer to: What Bank Connection to Choose.

  6. Click Next, then choose a message template for your client. You have three options:
    • Select a pre-existing template from the dropdown box, or
    • Create your own custom template — see: How to Create a Custom Message Template in LedgerSync, or
    • Type a custom message directly in the text box and send it to the client. (Note: custom messages typed directly in the box are not saved for future use.)

When composing your own message, you can use the auto-fill placeholder buttons to automatically insert key details, such as:

    • Bank Name
    • Client Name
    • URL Link to the Bank

  7. Under the Select Message Template tab, click the blue Edit button to adjust the template before sending.

    From here you can:

    1. Change the Template Type from Invitation to Issue, depending on the type of communication you’re sending your client.

    2. Change the Template Channel to Email or SMS (Text Message), depending on your preferred way to reach the client.

    3. Change the Template Name so it’s easy to identify the template for future use.

When you’re done, click the Update button to save these options.

  8. Click Send Invitation to notify the client.

  9. What happens next? Once the invitation is sent, the client will receive step-by-step instructions to securely connect their bank account directly within LedgerSync.
